In November 2015, Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines announced the new Comfort Health Center for Women. Thanks to a gift from the Comfort Family Foundation, Mercy will be able to continue its legacy of providing care for women with a special focus on the health care needs of women in their prime.
The new center is possible thanks to a generous donation from the family of Frank Comfort, a long-time Des Moines lawyer and philanthropist who passed away in 2012. Mr. Comfort expressed his desire to his family to establish a women’s center in honor of all the women in his family who he had been blessed to have in his life. For three generations, the Comfort family has generously supported initiatives benefiting the health care needs for many within our community.
Mercy Comfort Health Center for Women – planning to open in Spring 2017 – will be the first center of its kind in Iowa. The center will be led by a dedicated team of physicians and medical personnel who are specially trained in women’s health.
In one convenient location, women can receive comprehensive breast care through the Katzmann Breast Center, perimenopausal and menopausal health and symptom management, bladder and pelvic care, including incontinence, pain and physical therapy, mental health, weight and nutrition counseling, integrative medicine consultations, medical imaging screening and diagnostics and complementary wellness services including chiropractic care and massage therapy.
