Mercy Clinical Laboratory (MCL), the laboratory of Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines, is a full service, hospital-based laboratory offering testing in numerous pathology specialties and subspecialties. MCL performs testing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

More than 200 employees work for MCL including pathologists, specialized technologists and administrative support staff.

MCL is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunology (ASHI). The CAP accreditation is recognized by both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Our Mission

MCL is a full service hospital-based laboratory with locations at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines and Mercy Medical Center – West Lakes in West Des Moines. For more than 20 years, MCL has provided services to all Mercy-operated facilities, physician offices, hospitals and long term care facilities throughout Iowa.
