Mercy Clinical Laboratory (MCL), the laboratory of Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines, is a full service, hospital-based laboratory offering testing in numerous pathology specialties and subspecialties.  The laboratory provides services to all Mercy operated facilities, as well as physician offices, hospitals and long-term care facilities throughout Iowa.

More than 200 employees work for MCL including pathologists, specialized technologists and administrative support staff.

MCL is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunology (ASHI). The CAP accreditation is recognized by both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission.
