Through conservative treatment options, our physiatrists work with the patient to develop a plan of care that helps to manage pain, maximize function and improve quality of life.

Physiatrists determine and lead a treatment/prevention plan. Our non-surgical approach to treatment favors less extreme interventions before resorting to costly surgical procedures. If indicated, we offer prompt referrals to physical therapy, neurosurgery, anesthesia pain control, orthopedic surgery and behavioral health specialists. Mercy’s physiatrists consider all of the options available to help patients get on the path to improved function and less pain. We treat the whole person, not just the problem area.

Sports Rehabilitation

Athletes of all types are subjected to the risk of sudden injury. Injuries stemming from overuse can range from minor to career-ending. When an injury does occur, getting back in playing form is every athlete’s goal.  The experts at Mercy Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation can help athletes achieve full function following an injury.

Sports injuries are often treated using: EMG and nerve conduction studies, trigger point injections, joint injections (ultrasound and select fluoroscopic guided) and osteopathic manipulation.
