Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Today’s technological advances have greatly improved how we perform back and neck surgeries. Traditionally, all spine surgeries were done “open”, meaning a long incision was made so the surgeon had a wider view of the area being operated on.

Over the years, a new procedure was developed, called minimally invasive surgery. With minimally invasive spine surgery, doctors use special instruments to access the problem area through a small incision. Although complex cases may still require traditional spine surgeries, there are many benefits to minimally invasive spine surgery. If your doctor decides minimally invasive spine surgery may benefit you, you’ll experience:

  • Smaller incision; smaller scar
  • Shorter stay in the hospital
  • Quicker recovery times
  • Less discomfort than traditional surgery

It’s important to remember that minimally invasive spine surgery is still a surgery. To learn more about minimally invasive spine surgery, register for our next Spine Pain Seminar
