PGY2 Infectious Disease Pharmacy Residency

The residency program at Mercy Medical Center provides the resident with the knowledge, skills and abilities to become a competent infectious diseases pharmacy practitioner. This program is designed for those interested in developing specialized clinical skills in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship. The program is individualized to meet the needs and interests of the resident.  The resident will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills by working collaboratively with infectious disease physicians and pharmacists, the antimicrobial stewardship team, and other healthcare providers while assisting in management of patients’ infectious diseases.

  • Practice Management

Completion of a year-long research project and didactic teaching at Drake University are also required.  Elective rotations can be tailored to the resident’s interests but may include outreach antimicrobial stewardship, transplant service, emergency medicine, public health, and critical care.

This program participates in the ASHP residency matching program

Number of Positions: One per year

Application Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of a PGY1 residency
