Annual Stipends 2017-2018

PGY-2 $56,000
PGY-3 $58,000

Housing Allowance

Each resident receives a $5,000 housing allowance annually. This allowance is added to the resident’s paycheck over 26 pay periods.

Moving Allowance

Incoming residents receive an $1,000 moving expense allowance. 

Continuing Medical Education Allowance 

All residents receive a $800 CME allowance annually.

Time Off

Residents receive 20 days of paid time off per year. 

Health Insurance 

Mercy provides residents health insurance options partially funded by Mercy Medical Center. Residents may choose from three health insurance plans that best suit their individual and/or family needs.

Residents also have two options to choose from for dental and vision coverage. 

Life Insurance

Residents are provided with group life insurance in the amount of two times (2x) their annual salary. Additional life insurance for the resident, spouse and/or children, may be purchased for an additional cost.

Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance

Residents receive both short-term and long-term disability insurance coverage at no cost. This insurance provides income if a resident is away from work for more than seven calendar days due to a non-work related injury or illness.  

Free Parking

All residents may park on campus at no charge.

Meal Allowance

All residents receive an annual meal allowance to cover meals, while on-duty, at the medical center’s cafeterias.

Lab Coats

Residents are provided with lab coats.

Library

Library services are provided free to residents and include literature searches, interlibrary loan, and photocopying. Residents have 24-hour access to the medial library.  

Fitness and Wellness

Residents have access to the on-site wellness center for a minimal per pay period cost.  Facilities include cardio machines, strength machines, gymnasium, pool, racquetball courts, shower facilities, and daily classes. Residents may also purchase a YMCA membership for a reduced cost for themselves and/or family. 

Mercy offers many wellness programs in which the resident can participate, including annual health screens.
