Nurse practitioner joins Mercy Cancer Center Gynecologic Oncology

DES MOINES, Iowa – The physicians and staff at Mercy Campus Cancer Center Gynecologic Oncology recently welcomed Katelyn Elsberry ARNP, to the practice. Elsberry earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015 from Graceland University. Prior to joining Mercy Cancer Center, Katelyn worked as a patient care technician in the maternity triage and treatment department at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines, and as a registered nurse in the birthing center at Mercy Medical Center – West Lakes.

Elizabeth earned her Master of Science: Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2009 from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Mercy, Elizabeth worked as an advanced registered nurse practitioner at the Maquoketa Family Clinic in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Dr. Dean earned her medical degree from Des Moines University in 2007. Prior to joining Mercy, Dr. Dean worked at the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine.

Iowa Heart Center and Mercy Announce First Implant Of Newly Approved Recapturable Heart Valve

Offering the latest heart valve technology, Iowa Heart Center and Mercy announces its first implantations of the newly approved CoreValve® Evolut R System. The CoreValve® Evolut R System is the first-and-only recapturable and repositionable device available in the U.S. approved for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in severe aortic stenosis patients who are at high or extreme risk for open heart surgery. Three procedures were performed recently at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines by Drs. Atul Chawla, David McAllister and Marnix Verhofste.

Prior to joining the pediatric clinic, Dr. Metts worked as a staff physician in the pediatric emergency department at Mercy.

Mercy and Iowa Heart Center implant novel device to help lower high blood pressure

Des Moines, IA – Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines and Iowa Heart Center is one of seven centers in the U.S. conducting a study to evaluate a novel device to help lower high blood pressure. An Iowa Heart Center cardiologist was the first in Iowa to implant the device on May 6 at Mercy.
