Mercy Cancer Center Earns National Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) has granted Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to the cancer program at Mercy Cancer Center. To earn voluntary accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed 34 quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation is only awarded to a facility that exceeds standard requirements at the time of its triennial survey.

Mercy Comfort Health Center for Women to focus on midlife health care for central Iowa women

DES MOINES, Iowa — Frank Comfort was devoted to the women in his life. From his mother and grandmother — to his wives, daughters and the Sisters of Mercy. The Comfort family has often provided leadership, service and financial support to the Sisters of Mercy and their mission of caring for those in need. Nurse practitioner joins Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic

DES MOINES, Iowa – The physicians and staff at Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic recently welcomed Megan Spreacker, ARNP, to the practice. Megan earned her master of science in nursing degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., in 2015. Prior to becoming an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner, Megan worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

DES MOINES, Iowa – The physicians and staff at Mercy Campus Medical Clinic recently welcomed Elizabeth Gudgel, ARNP, to the clinic. Elizabeth earned her Master of Science: Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2009 from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Mercy, Elizabeth worked as an advanced registered nurse practitioner at the Maquoketa Family Clinic in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Iowa Heart Center and Mercy Announce First Implant Of Newly Approved Recapturable Heart Valve

Offering the latest heart valve technology, Iowa Heart Center and Mercy announces its first implantations of the newly approved CoreValve® Evolut R System. The CoreValve® Evolut R System is the first-and-only recapturable and repositionable device available in the U.S. approved for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in severe aortic stenosis patients who are at high or extreme risk for open heart surgery. Three procedures were performed recently at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines by Drs. Atul Chawla, David McAllister and Marnix Verhofste.
