- Mercy Medical Center — West Lakes is West Des Moines' first full-service community hospital. It was built as a replacement hospital for Mercy Capitol.

- The hospital is licensed for 146 beds, with 82 beds staffed.

- The facility incorporates evidence-based design to provide the optimal healing environment for patients and their families and maximize patient safety. Among other things, the campus features an outdoor healing garden, serene chapel, green space and landscaping.
- Mercy Medical Center — West Lakes is the first hospital in central Iowa built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications, meaning it is an energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly building. An application for LEED certification is pending.
