  The experienced pediatric hospitalists at Mercy specialize in providing complete care to children ages newborn to teen. Our unit has private rooms for patients and their families.

  Dedicated Child Life Specialists help children and families understand and manage challenging life events and stressful healthcare experiences.
• Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic
  We provide specialized health care services for children with unique needs. Our board certified pediatric staff includes a surgeon, gastroenterologist and neurologist. We also work with the University of Iowa Regional Genetics and Metabolic programs.
• Center for Craniofacial and Children's Reconstructive Surgery

  Our center is the only one of its kind in central Iowa. We are dedicated to the treatment of children with deformities of the face and skill, with emphasis on cleft lip and palate. Our outstanding team also coordinates pediatric reconstructive procedures.

• Children's Emergency Center
  At Mercy, our dedicated, 24-hour pediatric emergency department is staffed with emergency trained pediatricians and pediatric nurses to make emergency visits as easy as possible for our pediatric patients and their families. Smaller instruments, bright colors and a specialized staff—including a Child Life Specialist—help ease children and parents’ fears.
  
• Variety Club Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  The new, state-of-the-art NICU at Mercy provides family-centered care for more than 600 babies each year. Iowa’s only full-time Child Life Specialist, along with six dedicated staff, six board-certified neonatologists and 100 specially trained nurses, provide in-house care 24 hours a day and support family members during a baby’s stay.
