The Wellness Center Gym and Pool offer a variety of classes, open times and pick up games to help its members stay fit.
GYM CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
A timed completion of all prescribed exercises in a series, with little rest in between each exercise. Modifications will be given for all ages and fitness levels.
Simultaneously lengthens and strengthens muscles, increases joint mobility and relieves pain. This class incorporates Tai Chi, Yoga, Ballet and Physio Therapy.
Total Body Blast:
A total body workout using various formats of training in this “anything goes” class. Modifications will be given for all ages and fitness levels.
The art of controlled movements performed on the floor with a mat. It improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. The core, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and hips, often called the "powerhouse" and is thought to be the key to a person's stability. All levels are welcome to participate.
Pick Up Basketball:
Come join Mercy Wellness Center members for an exciting game over your lunch break.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and standing support.
SilverSneakers® Chair Yoga:
Designed for seniors and older adults, Chair Yoga is a popular Silver Sneakers class that leads you through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.
Tai Chi (Member led class):
Slow motion and slow breathing exercises to improve balance, mental focus and health. All are welcome!
Designed to improve the health, performance, and mental acuity of individuals at all fitness levels. Based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga, it blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format.
An aerobic fitness class featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance. Routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
Open Time: Open gym time. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Family Time: (Saturday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm only) Immediate family (spouses and children high school age and under) can attend at no additional cost. Members must be with guests at all times.
POOL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
A low impact water class to reduce joint pain and stiffness, while also increasing range of motion. This class does not use resistance equipment and you will keep one foot on the floor at all times.
An intermediate water class designed for active individuals of all ages. This class includes cardiovascular conditioning, strengthening, and stretching. Also a great prenatal/postpartum workout.
Most advanced water workout offered. Combination of vigorous cardiovascular exercise along with strengthening and stretching.
This class uses various formats of interval training, circuit training, and tabatas in this “anything goes” class. Modifications will be given for all cardio moves making this a fun class for all ages and fitness levels.
A muscle conditioning workout that will use varieties of water equipment such as buoys and noodles.
Pool Therapy ONLY: Patient therapy; members NOT allowed in pool during these times.
Open Swim: Open pool time. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Open Swim/Pool Therapy: Shared pool time with physical therapy and Wellness Center Members.
Water Volleyball: A fun, challenging water game using beach balls and a net.
Family Time: Saturdays only from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Immediate family (spouses and children high school age and younger) can accompany members at no additional cost.
