Hearing loss is a common disorder that impacts the lives of one in 10 Americans. The symptoms of hearing loss often occur gradually over time and may go unnoticed for years. That’s why it is a good idea to have your hearing evaluated annually by the experts at Mercy Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Clinic.
Comprehensive hearing evaluations are performed at Mercy ENT Clinic by highly educated and trained audiologists. Mercy ENT Clinic audiologists are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and hold current State of Iowa licenses in audiology and hearing aid dispensing. Hearing evaluations are available for both adults and children.
When hearing loss is detected, patients are referred for treatment to one of the specially trained doctors with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders which cause hearing loss at Mercy ENT Clinic.
If you are diagnosed with hearing loss, an audiologist at Mercy ENT will conduct a hearing aid evaluation with you, including a demonstration and discussion of hearing aid options. During the evaluation, ear impressions are taken and hearing aid style and circuit are selected. Once the best hearing aid option is selected, the audiologist will meet with you to make sure the hearing aid fits properly and will discuss how to use and care for your hearing aid as well as a schedule for follow-up visits.
