You need not know anything about golf to participate in the Principal Charity Classic® Birdies for Charity® event going on now through June 1.  All you need to know is that your donation will go directly to help children at Mercy Medical Center.

"But, just what is a birdie,” you may ask?  In golf, a “birdie” is a score of one stroke better than “par” for any golf hole on the golf course.  “Par” is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole.  The total number of “birdies” made at last year’s Charity Classic was 752. 

The Principal Charity Classic® is a community event in the metro area which brings in PGA Champion Tour golfers.   In addition to excellent golfing, the Classic offers the opportunity to raise money for local non-profit organizations supporting children, such as Mercy Children’s Center.

This year, supporters of children’s services at Mercy have an opportunity to participate in Birdies for Charity®, with 100% of the donation coming back to serve the needs of Mercy Children’s Center Child Life program.
