Combat Hunger - November 5 - 16, 2012
Combat Hunger is a partnership between STAR 102.5, Mercy Medical Center, Dahl’s Foods, and the Iowa Motor Truck Association (IMTA) to support the Food Bank of Iowa.
Part of Mercy’s mission is to deliver compassion in all that we do. By supporting the Food Bank of Iowa, and through them the hungry and needy Iowans in the harshest months of the year, we are actively honoring this Core Value.
2012 marks Mercy’s ninth year participating in Combat Hunger, which has been occurring annually since 1991. In 2011 Mercy raised 10,865 pounds of food; our goal for 2012 is 12,000 pounds.
How to Donate to Combat Hunger
Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines
Mercy Des Moines employees and visitors can drop off cash and non-perishable food donations* to Volunteer Services (located on Level A, near the Mercy Salon) anytime between 11/5 and 11/16/2012. Volunteer Services hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Members of the public can drive through donations on Tuesday, November 13th from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. outside the West Entrance of Mercy Des Moines, located downtown. STAR 102.5 will be on site with live interviews, prizes and more!
Special Offer! Anyone who brings a non-perishable food donation to the Marketplace Grille (cafeteria), located on Level A, Nov. 5 - Nov. 16 will receive a FREE** 20-oz Pepsi fountain drink.
Mercy Medical Center – West Lakes
Mercy West Lakes employees and visitors can drop off cash and non-perishable food donations to Receiving (located on Level 1) anytime between 11/5 and 11/16/2012. Receiving hours are M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mercy Clinics
All Mercy Clinics locations will have cash and non-perishable food collections taking place in the main lobby of each clinic. Please contact the clinic you would like to donate at specifically for details.
Volunteer Opportunities
You can help raise food and fight hunger by volunteering at STAR 102.5’s Combat Hunger Encampment (Nov. 15-16) or by helping out at the Food Bank of Iowa.

*Each dollar of cash is equal to two pounds of donated food. Checks can be made payable to Food Bank of Iowa.
