From the time you enter the Mercy Family Medicine Residency Program, you will enjoy hands-on learning experiences as you work directly with the medical specialists who are on staff at Mercy.
Curriculum - Start July 1, 2011
There will be 12, one-month blocks
First-Year Rotations
- 3 months FP/IM
- 2 months OB
- 1 month IP Surgery
- 1 month ED
- 2 months Peds IP
- 1 month Peds OP
- Half month Newborn Nursery
- Half month Community medicine
- 1 month Cardiology
First-Year Clinic
One (1) half-day for six months, then two (2) half-days final six months
Second-Year Rotations
- 1 month ICU
- Half month Community medicine
- Half month Peds IP
- 1 month Psych
- 2 months FP/IM
- 1 month Neurology
- 1 month Gynecology
- 1 month Peds ED
- 1 month Gastroenterology
- Half month Billing & Coding
- Half month Urgent Care
- 2 months electives
Second-Year Clinic
Two (2) half-days for six months, then three (3) half-days final six months
Third-Year Rotations
- 1 month Sports medicine
- 1 month Dermatology
- Half month Urology
- Half month Ophthalmology
- Half month ENT
- Half month Peds IP
- 1 month FP/IM w/night float
- 1 month FP/IM w/o night float (morning only, clinic pm)
- 1 month PHC/Procedures
- 1 month Surgery OP
- 1 month Orthopedics
- Half month Practice management
- Half month Billing & coding
- 2 months electives
Third-Year Clinic
Three (3) half-days for six months, then four (4) half-days final six months
Geriatrics
Geriatrics and nursing home rounds will be conducted twice each month.
