There are times when you may need health care in the comfort of your own home, and Mercy is proud to bring high quality, compassionate care home to you through our Home Health Services Department. Our staff of dedicated professionals serves people of all ages – including those who are temporarily disabled, are acutely ill or who require long-term care.

From medical check-ups to rehabilitation therapies to nursing and hospice care, Mercy offers a comprehensive range of licensed home care services to patients who live within a 50-mile radius of Des Moines, which includes all or part of Polk, Dallas, Warren, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Marshall and Story Counties.

All Mercy Home Health programs are accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and the majority of services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and/or private health insurance. Coverage is always explained prior to providing care.

Mercy Home Health Services offers seven comprehensive programs:

• Home nursing care for individuals who are ill but do not require hospitalization
• Home nursing care for new mothers and their infants
• Psychiatric home nursing care for people with mental health problems
• Geriatric assessments for seniors
• Home care for patients requiring intravenous therapy
• Private care by nurse aides/attendants for people who are frail, infirm or even well
• Hospice care for the terminally ill

Insurance

The majority of our home-care services are covered by insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. Before we begin caring for you, we’ll discuss your coverage with you and any expenses you might incur. That way, you’ll know in advance exactly what to expect.
