Mercy Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program receives national certification
October 6, 2008
The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) recently granted program certification to Mercy Medical Center—Des Moines. This certification, which is valid for three years, recognizes programs that have been rigorously reviewed by a national board and are able to meet the essential requirements for standards of care.
Mercy’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program provides more than 2,500 patients each year with a customized curriculum of exercise, education and counseling to help them achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
“Achieving this certification is another example of Mercy’s longstanding commitment to providing the highest quality patient care,” said Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Director Pat Cavanaugh. “It also recognizes the professionalism of the program and our staff.”
The AACVPR is a national, multi-disciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. The mission of AACVPR is to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and aggressive disease management.
