Mercy Clinics names Chief Executive Officer

Mercy Clinics, Inc. (MCI) has announced the appointment of David E. Swieskowski, MD, MBA, to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Since 2005, Dr. Swieskowski has acted as the National Ambulatory Quality Consultant for Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) as well as serving as the Vice President for Quality Improvement for MCI.
Dr. Swieskowski has led MCI quality initiatives in areas such as diabetes and hypertension that are now recognized as best-practice nationally. In addition to his clinical expertise in the areas of quality and safety, he has also contributed to the financial success of MCI, applying process improvement strategies to reduce operating costs.
Dr. Swieskowski received both his medical degree and his MBA from the University of Iowa and is board certified in Family Practice and Geriatrics. He is a recent board member for the Iowa Medical Society and currently serves on the board of the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative.
