Dahl’s Foods Stores Add Mercy Quick Care Clinics to Three Des Moines-Area Locations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 2, 2007

Dahl’s Food Stores will add Mercy Quick Care Clinics to three of its Des Moines-area stores beginning April 2. The Quick Care Clinics will be located inside two Des Moines Dahl’s Stores at 4343 Merle Hay Road and 3400 E. 33rd Street, and the Clive store located at 15500 Hickman Road. The Quick Care Clinics will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mercy’s Quick Care Clinics are staffed by nurse practitioners and is best suited for relatively straightforward problems like strep throat, ear infections and urinary tract infections that can be diagnosed through observation or simple lab tests. The Clinic only serves patients over the age of 18 months.
Mercy is the first and only health care provider to introduce the Quick Care Clinic concept in Des Moines. The first Mercy Quick Care Clinic opened on May 15, 2006, on the downtown Des Moines skywalk and quickly became a popular and convenient location for downtown workers to seek treatment for common illnesses. The downtown Quick Care Clinic continues to grow and is now offering flu vaccines and free preventative health screenings for downtown workers and residents.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with an organization that demonstrates the quality and excellence of Mercy Medical Center,” said Marilyn Aldrich, R.Ph., Director of Pharmacy Operations. “We look forward to a great partnership with Mercy Quick Care Clinics.”
“We are eager to bring the Quick Care Clinic concept to Dahl’s Stores,” said Dr. Kent Carr, CEO, Mercy Clinics. “Because Quick Care Clinic visits typically take 10-15 minutes and no appointment is necessary, Quick Care Clinics are a convenient option for many consumers.”
All Quick Care Clinics file insurance for most major health insurance plans and patients pay their regular insurance co-pay at the time of service.
Dr. Carr emphasized that Mercy Quick Care Clinics are not an emergency room or meant to replace the care of a primary care provider.
“We are committed to the health of our patients,” said Dr. Carr. “Patients with heart or breathing difficulties, potentially life-threatening problems or who demonstrate signs of a chronic condition are referred to their doctor or, if critical, the nearest emergency room.”
