Mercy Medical Center – West Lakes continues to assemble its leadership team with the appointment of Sheryl Barnes RN, MSN, as Associate Administrator. Barnes and Mercy West Lakes Senior Vice President and Administrator Dan Aten will serve as leaders for the replacement hospital for Mercy Capitol.

“Sheryl is uniquely qualified for this leadership position,” says Aten. “In addition to her current position as a vice president at Mercy’s main campus, Sheryl served as Chief Nursing Officer at the former Metropolitan Medical Center, prior to its purchase by Mercy, and at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Her extensive knowledge of community hospital operations will be a major benefit as we progress to the opening of Mercy West Lakes later this year.”

Barnes joined Mercy in August 2001 and was promoted to Vice President of Professional Services in November of that year. Her responsibilities have included oversight of Mercy Behavioral Health Services at the Mercy Franklin Campus as well as administrative oversight of Mercy Hospice Johnston, Mercy Sleep Center, Mercy Home Care, physician practices rehabilitation, and pharmacy services. Sheryl will begin her new duties later this month. She is a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area.
