National Volunteer Recognition Week is a time to honor and thank the amazing volunteers who graciously donate their time and talents to help our patients, guests and colleagues.
At Mercy, we have 285 volunteers who work in 65 different positions – including delivering flowers and cards, walking with patients to their destinations, delivering the Eucharist, assisting nurses and office staff with various tasks, cuddling crying babies, playing games and working on crafts with our young patients and providing support in multiple other ways throughout the hospital. Last year, these dedicated volunteers provided a combined total of approximately 24,000 hours of service.
Please join us this week in taking a moment to recognize and thank our amazing volunteers. We are honored to have them as members of our Mercy Family and are grateful they have chosen to give of themselves to help us fulfill our Mission. Our volunteers make Mercy a better place to receive care, practice medicine and work. The next time you see a volunteer, be sure to let him or her know how much we sincerely appreciate their incredible contribution to Mercy.
