Subacute Services & Activities

  • Physician Services - Physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with privileges at Mercy Medical Center visit their patients receiving subacute care. The frequency of visits will vary by physician. The nursing staff frequently communicates with your physician with specialty medical services available on a referral basis.
  • Nursing Services - RN/LPN and nursing assistants provide care 24 hours a day. The nursing staff works closely with all other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide the care ordered by your physician.
  • Rehabilitation Services - Occupational, physical and speech therapies are provided seven days a week as ordered by your physician. The therapists will meet with you within the first 24 hours to develop your treatment plan.
  • Pharmacy Services - The Pharmacy Department at Mercy provides all medications to subacute care. A pharmacist will review your medication therapy and present to your physician any concerns that may arise during your stay.
  • Diagnostic Testing - You have immediate access to the hospital’s full range of diagnostic services.
  • Social Services - A social worker is available to assist you with social, emotional, legal or financial concerns. The social worker will meet with you to assist in planning for discharge and for arranging needed services.
  • Food and Nutrition Services - The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides well-balanced and delicious meals and snacks. A registered dietitian routinely reviews your nutritional requirements and will meet with you upon request. All special dietary requirements can be accommodated.
  • Recreational Activities - Our recreational activity program is flexible to meet individual needs. Individual and group activities are designed to meet a variety of interests and preferences.
  • Environmental Services - Daily housekeeping is provided.
  • Laundry Services - Family members should launder clothing from home. The unit does have laundry facilities in case of emergencies.
  • Transportation - The Mercy shuttle service transports patients to appointments and testing on the Mercy campus.
