CyberKnife® S7™ System

CyberKnife® is the only robotic radiotherapy device to deliver precise doses of radiation with extreme accuracy. It uses a linear accelerator mounted to a flexible jointed robotic arm to provide up to 1,200 different angles for physicians to reach a variety of tumors both benign and malignant. Surgeons synchronize CyberKnife® with patient movements, including breathing, to allow pinpoint radiation treatment even on moving tumors.

  • MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center offers cancer patients with Iowa’s only flexible stereotactic radiosurgery system (SRS)-- CyberKnife®. This technology offers accuracy and the ability to adjust to tumor size and location anywhere in the body providing hope for patients who may have been told their condition is untreatable.

DaVinci® Surgical System

This system offers a minimally invasive surgical option for a wide-range conditions in a variety of specialties including bariatrics, general surgery, gynecology, pulmonology and urology. DaVinci® technology is available at many MercyOne locations.

Ion by Intuitive®

Ion technology gives the surgeon access to the most difficult areas of the lung to reach, reducing the need for multiple procedures. This technology provides a minimally invasive option for lung biopsies while decreasing the risk of collapsing the lung and improving diagnostic capabilities, enabling a more precise biopsy.

Mako SmartRobotics™

The first and only robotic technology that can be used across various joint replacement services to perform total knee, total hip and partial knee replacements. Mako is recognized for improved knee flexion and soft tissue protection in comparison to manual surgery techniques.

ROSA® Knee

The Robotic Surgical Assistant (ROSA) collects before and during surgery to provide your surgeon with details related to your unique anatomy to tailor the placement of your knee implant. By using ROSA data, your surgeon plans and carries out a personalized surgery based upon your individual needs.

StealthStation™

Stealth technology is an advanced computer-assisted, image-guided navigational tool to give your surgeon the ability to plan, navigate and precisely position surgical instruments in the most difficult areas of the brain, spine and sinuses.

*Robotic technology available at MercyOne is location specific. Ask your surgeon if you're a candidate for robotic surgery.

Benefits of robotic surgery for the patient:

  • Smaller incision, fewer stitches and minimal scar.
  • Lower risk of infection.
  • Less loss of blood.
  • Shorter surgery time.
  • Shorter hospital stay.
  • Less pain medication.
  • Faster recovery time.

Benefits of robotic surgery for the surgeon:

  • Decreased time in operating room.
  • 3D high-definition views of surgical areas virtually extend eyes and hands, offering more precision, flexibility and control than traditional techniques.
  • Operates with natural hand-eye coordination while seated at a console.
  • Instrument’s movements mimic the surgeon’s hand movements - when the surgeon turns the controls clockwise, the robot’s instruments turn clockwise.
  • In many cases, the surgical robot can accomplish intricate movements and procedures that a surgeon’s hands cannot physically do.
