Perinatal Center of Iowa offers a full spectrum of perinatal services, including obstetric consultations for maternal and fetal indications, obstetric ultrasounds at all gestational ages and for all indications, preconceptual and prenatal genetic counseling, invasive prenatal testing (amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and cordocentesis), antenatal testing and obstetric management when requested.

has been accredited in
Obstetric Ultrasound by
the American Institute of
Ultrasound in Medicine since
1996. Using state-of-the-art
high resolution ultrasound
machines, we are able to
assess a pregnancy from
conception through delivery. A physician is present to
interpret the ultrasound and review the findings prior to

Perinatal Center of Iowa Medical Staff
Neil Mandsager, MD, FACOG
Dr. Mandsager started this practice
in 1993. After growing up in
Marshalltown, IA, he attended
Wartburg College and then the
University of Iowa College of
Medicine. He did his OB-GYN
residency in Columbia, Missouri before spending four years in the Air Force. Finally, he completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Mandsager is board-certified in Obstetrics-Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He lives in
Johnston with his wife and five children. When not working, Dr. Mandsager enjoys spending time with his family, taking photographs and watercolor painting.
Joseph Hwang, MD, FACOG
Dr. Hwang joined this practice in
August 2004. He spent much of
his early years in Chicago, where
he also attended college and
medical school at Loyola
University Chicago. He then ventured out east where he did his OB-GYN residency at Georgetown University, followed by a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at Yale University. Dr. Hwang is board-certified in Obstetrics-Gynecology and Maternal-
Fetal Medicine. He lives in Waukee with his wife and two daughters. Apart from work, Dr. Hwang enjoys time with his family, and he also enjoys photography.
