Maternity Triage and Treatment Unit
When problems or concerns arise during pregnancy, your doctor may send you to our Maternity Triage and Treatment Unit for evaluation including lab tests, fetal monitoring and ultrasound. Board-certified perinatologists are available to assist your primary physician in determining your plan of care, if necessary. Our inpatient area, which features the same amenities as the Mother/Baby Unit, is available for those who require additional hospitalization.
Ultrasound Rooms
All OB ultrasounds are performed in the Maternity Triage and Treatment Unit and evaluated by a perinatologist. Television monitors are available so that the patient and her visitors may watch their new member of the family.
Fetal Monitoring
Fetal monitoring traces your baby's heart rate and the frequency. It can be done either externally (with elastic belts around your abdomen) or internally (with an electrode inserted through your cervical opening and attached to your baby). This procedure also measures the intensity of your uterine contractions. The monitor registers your baby's heart rate and any uterine activity that you might be experiencing.
