Physicians and Staff

Neil Mandsager, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Mandsager started Perinatal Center of Iowa, LLC, in 1993. Born in Cameroon (a country located in west-central Africa), he was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, and attended Wartburg College. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed his OB-Gyn residency in Columbia, Mo., before spending four years in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Mandsager completed a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is currently board-certified in obstetrics-gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.

Michael Cardwell, M.D.

Dr. Cardwell attended Purdue University for his undergraduate degree and received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. After completing his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Illinois-Peoria, Dr. Cardwell attended Baylor University for his maternal-fetal medicine fellowship. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal fetal medicine. 

Jona Conklin, M.D.

Dr. Conklin, a native of Des Moines, received her medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. She completed a residency in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., and was also named chief resident during her final year in the program. Dr. Conklin completed a fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Conklin is board eligible in maternal-fetal medicine. 

Jennifer krupp, M.D.

Dr. Krupp began her health care career as a nurse, earning a BS and MS in Nursing. In 2005, she received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisc. In 2012, she earned a Master’s in endocrinology and reproductive physiology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dr. Krupp completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine both at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is board-certified in general obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Krupp is board eligible in maternal-fetal medicine.

Leah Bruxvoort, ARNP

Leah is a nurse practitioner at Mercy's Perinatal Center of Iowa. She earned her degree from Clarkson College in Omaha, Neb. Leah has earned credentials from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and belongs to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Amie Dawes, PA-C

Amie is a physician assistant with PCI. She earned her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University before attending Des Moines University’s Physician Assistant program. Amie is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Kate Wallace, ARNP 

Kate is a nurse practitioner with PCI. She attended Central College and Grand View College before receiving her graduate nursing degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Cindy Johnson, MS, CGC

Cindy is the genetics counselor at PCI. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University before graduating from the University of North Texas with a Master of Science degree in Human Genetics. Cindy is a charter member of the American Board of Genetic Counseling and currently maintains her certification through that organization. She is also a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
