Cancer Education Series

MercyOne Des Moines Cancer Center offers a weekly educational series specifically for cancer patients and survivors to address cancer issues and their impact on various aspects of everyday living. Topics change weekly so check back with us often. These meetings are available in person and online.

The MercyOne Cancer Education Series has been impacting patients' lives since 2009 with more than 11,500 participants in over 550 courses. Sessions have featured experts and renowned physicians, nurses, and specialists in the areas of prevention, treatment, integrative medicine, fitness, nutrition, self-care, family life and more.

The Cancer Education Series has been a collaborative effort between MercyOne Des Moines Cancer Center and Above + Beyond Cancer since its inception. Dr. Richard Deming, MercyOne Des Moines Cancer Center Director, leads the team who plans, organizes and markets the sessions. Collaborative support has also been received from Unity Point, Broadlawns and various other organizations in the form of guest speakers over the past 11 years.
