Devon Foster, D.O.,
Breast Surgical Oncologist/General Surgeon

Devon Foster, DO, is a breast surgical oncologist at MercyOne Katzmann Breast Care.

“I love being part of a breast cancer patient’s journey. Early in my medical training, I had a personal experience with breast cancer, which changed my outlook on life and was the driving force behind my passion for breast cancer surgery. Rarely in life can someone truly say, ‘I understand what you are going through’ and mean it,” said Devon. “Because of my experience, I believe I have a better appreciation of what it’s like to be treated for breast cancer.”
Devon received her medical degree from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Emory University and her general surgery residency at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Her clinical interests include pregnancy associated with breast cancer, premenopausal breast cancer and survivorship.

“I’m determined to remain at the leading edge of my specialty. I also have the compassion and patience required to treat the systemic disease process that is breast cancer,” said Devon. “My experience offers a unique perspective when discussing breast cancer with you. My ability to truly empathize with your diagnosis is a priceless gift, which is why there is nowhere I would rather be than at the cutting edge of the treatment of this disease.”

“While completing my residency at MercyOne, I fell in love with the culture and appreciated the care provided by the nurses and physicians employed here,” said Devon. “MercyOne Katzmann Breast Care and its partners are very well-equipped with the resources and experts needed to treat breast cancer. It’s is very important not only to treat the disease, but to take care of the physical and spiritual body after treatment is completed.”
